Rigging Challenges
Typical areas of concern:
  • A rig inspection facilitates a closer look at the
condition of upper rigging and mast (not visible from deck level) thus preventing potential dismasting, serious injury and possible death.
  • Wrong installed steaming light that acts as a "rain catcher".

  • Shackles often are not seized.   Seizing wire will prevent shackle from opening.  This picture shows a dangerously installed back stay connection.  Sissor action will break shackle / backstay.  This in turn could cause dismasting.

  • Areas of chafing on stays as shown on right, can become dangerous if not addressed.  Again, this damage cannot be viewed from the deck.
